Alaska Photo of the Month – December 2010

Happy Holidays Everyone! Here’s the third (yep – 3 in a row!) from our exploratory trip into Denali National Park this past summer.

As mentioned in my last two emails, last summer I was able to spend 15-days exploring this amazing area of Alaska’s crown jewel. While we were certainly not the first to investigate this region of the Park, it is likely that we camped in places that had never seen a tent and stepped on ground that had never seen a boot. This shot was taken in an un-named valley high above the extraordinarily rocky Kanikula Glacier. We had hiked up that glacier in a driving rainstorm the day prior and were thankful to see the sun as we moved southwest toward our pick-up at Bear Creek.
