Why Us?

As you’re planning your adventure trip to Alaska, you’re sure to find dozens of operators spanning this vast State. Why should you choose to travel with Alaska Alpine Adventures?

In addition to our recognition by National Geographic Adventure Magazine as one of the “Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth” in both 2008 & 2009, our itineraries have also been touted as “trips of a lifetime” by both Outside and National Geographic Traveler Magazines.  With over 25 years of Alaska adventure and expedition planning expertise, a commitment to risk management, and longstanding relationships with our vendors, here are just a few additional reasons why Alaska Alpine Adventures is the first choice in pure Alaska adventure travel.

All-Inclusive Experiences:

Other than a tip for your guide team and your personal clothing & gear, our trips are essentially all-inclusive experiences.  We provide (and our guides prepare) all the food, and we also include expedition-quality tents, trekking poles,  emergency communication devices, all transportation into and out of the backcountry, and much more.  Most of our trips even include a night of comfortable accommodations, and all of our trips are inclusive from Anchorage or Fairbanks.

Easy & Paper Free Online Reservations:

Have you been asked to complete a 12-step process to book your vacation?  Your time is precious, and part of choosing the right vacation is selecting a a company who appreciates the value of that hard-earned time. Our state-of-the-art reservation system allows you to easily register, submit your deposit, and even go so far as to sign your liability waiver – all online and 100% paper free!

Alaska’s Best Destinations – Period:

Since 1992 our team has been exploring Alaska’s most magnificent landscapes within the state’s stunning national parks and wildlife refuges.  Regardless of the trip you choose, know that you will be completely immersed in Alaska’s best national parks and, most importantly, will experience the best places within those parks.

15-Minutes to Alaska:

Why drive 6+ hours each way just to get into the wilderness? Within 15-minutes of your hotel/B&B in Anchorage or Fairbanks, you’ll be on a bush flight headed for the wilderness.  Rather than worrying about complex travel logistics, you can instead spend your time enjoying your Alaska vacation.**

Small Groups:

The best way to witness the Last Frontier! Our wilderness trips are limited to 8 guests.  And with a guest to guide ratio of 4:1 when you’re in the wilderness, you are assured of our commitment to risk management and safe operations.

Delicious Camp Cuisine:

Each adventure is made a dash more savory with our recipes of delicious food prepared and packaged in our commercial kitchen by our amazing team.  Smiles of approval have led the way to a menu you might never imagine, let alone expect, this far from civilization!

Custom & Personalized:

Personal attention to our guests’ every desire is the foundation of our business.  Whether you want to learn new skills, test personal limits, find a relaxing place away from routine, or design a customized Alaska experience, we understand your vacation goals and will help you to achieve them.

Alaskan Owned:

We live, work, and play in Alaska year round.  We are a very small company and are proud of our growing Alaska roots.  When you call Alaska Alpine Adventures to discuss your trip, odds are you’ll speak with owner Dan Oberlatz.

*Please see trip specifics for details. Our Denali Unexplored Basecamp, Backpacking the Talkeetnas, and Lake Clark Unexplored trips do not include a night of lodging.

**Applies to most of our trips. Parts of our Ultimate Alaska Multisport Tour is partially spent along Alaska’s spectacular network of roads and highways. Our backpacking trip into the North Wrangells in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park does require a 6-hour drive to get to our air taxi operator in Nabesna. Of course transportation and accommodations are included on both of these trips.
